Vista Friends and Newcomers

Purpose

Our purpose is to unite members in social and cultural activities and to foster acquaintances, cooperation and productive interests in the community. As an active social group, the Club sponsors monthly Coffees, Luncheons and Dinners. In addition, many special interest groups meet on a regular basis. Members come from the North San Diego cities of Vista, Oceanside, San Marcos, Carlsbad and Escondido.

History

Vista Friends and Newcomers was started in 1990 as a chapter of Welcome Wagon by Jo Keller and Margo Devoll. The group was started with 12 members. The chapter eventually evolved into its own entity and in 1995 Friends was added to the name and the group was no longer a chapter of the National Welcome Wagon organization. The Vista Friends and Newcomers group now numbers over 60 members.

Membership

Fun and Friendship is the watchword for the Vista Friends and Newcomers. Yearly membership fees are due July 1st. Membership entitles members to participate in all of the interest groups and other special functions. (Some of these have additional costs).

Community Endeavors

Vista Friends and Newcomers support many non-profit organizations in the community. ARC, Solutions for Change, Women’s Resource Center and Toys for Tots are all recipients of the Vista Friends and Newcomers’ generosity.
